“My husband prayed that God would bless our marriage, that through thick or thin together we would never lose hope in one another. That instead of focusing on each others imperfections we would always rely on Christ’s perfection. That we would wake up every day and chose to love one another not through our own strength but by the power of Christ’s perfect love,” Words of Bride Bre Curtas

Growing up as a Christian I always thought I would want to have my future wedding in a Catholic Church similar to the church I grew up in. Over the past couple of years, while my childhood dreams of on having a church wedding have changed there’s one thing that hasn’t and that is putting God at the forefront of my wedding and incorporating Christian elements throughout the ceremony and reception. Before I came up with the idea of showcasing 10 fantastic christian wedding ideas, I hadn’t really found a christian wedding resource online. Whenever I tried google searching christian wedding ideas or christian wedding blog quite frankly I couldn’t find much which was very shocking. Today is the day I am going to change that by starting a new Christian Wedding Section on the blog which you can find here. My goal in this new series is to showcase great christian wedding ideas and christian themed events. Hopefully this post will spark ideas to incorporate in your own christian wedding.
1. Write bible quotes along the aisle of your wedding ceremony, like this 1 Corinthians 13 bible verse along the aisle in calligraphy. This is one idea I can’t wait to implement at my future wedding someday.

The aisle decor with 1 Corinthians 13 is my absolute fave! Love the idea of this series by the way!
Thanks:) While conducting research for this post I couldn’t really find many christian wedding blogs out there so I thought it would be a great addition to the blog.
Another couple of ideas is while a song is being sung, the couple participates in the Lord’s supper. Or the two families encircle the couple and pray over them.
Thanks for the additional information Amelia that’s a really great idea may have to include that and credit you in the next roundup:)
what stye of handwriting is the ephesians aisle runner in?
Hi Susan, I don’t know the specific calligraphy font style.
Aww the “Highlight the Verse” is from mine and my husband (Cameron)’s wedding! 🙂 Thanks for featuring it! We love having that Bible in our home.
Your welcome Holly:) Thanks for sharing this idea. It’s such a great way to incorporate God’s word throughout a wedding I will definitely be incorporating that in my guest sign in table.
Holly, did you have people sign it so you know who highlighted which verse?
Oh my God!!!!!!!!!! Lovvvely!! Made me scream with excitement when I read the ‘Washing the feet’ idea!!! Why did this idea never occur to me!! Beautiful!
These are lovely ideas and great ways to put God at the centre of your marriage from the start. I thought I would share that on my wedding day, I carried my great grandmother’s prayer book down the aisle as she did almost 100 years before. My great grandparents married during the First World War and it was not possible to have a bouquet of flowers, instead before their wedding my great grandfather gave my great grandmother a prayer book which she no doubt used to commit their marriage to God before she carried it down the aisle to meet her husband to be. On my wedding day my mother wrapped it in ribbon so that I could tie it around my wrist and wear it while also carrying my bouquet.
We also personalised our service by having my mother also write and read the prayers so they were very specific for us and our marriage. While our friends played in the worship band.

I think sometimes when you’re planning a wedding you can forget about what’s really important when there’s so many tasks to complete so this is a little reminder of how God can be further incorporated throughout your big day. Thank you so much for sharing your story of how you incorporated your Grandma’s prayer book that must of been a really special moment. I thought it was really sentimental and unique that you choose to wrap it around your wrist I would of never thought to do that but it’s perfect.
I just stumbled upon this and it’s taken my breath away! Thank you so much for putting this together! I’m definitely going to incorporate some of these ideas into my wedding.
Your so welcome Alicia, glad you found these ideas really helpful:)
At my daughter’s wedding she chose to have a congregational hymn, as well as having the whole congregation receive Holy Communion. We have had countless people comment that it was so meaningful, and they really felt like participants in the service, not just observers. First, the pastor served my daughter and her husband. Then, they in turn served their attendants. After that, the whole wedding party was seated, and members of our congregation, most of whom had know my daughter her whole life, served the rest of the congregation. It was really beautiful and special.
Awesome just truly amazing how God would inspire you!
I have also seen the idea of a three-stranded cord braided together by the couple, echoing Ecclesiastes 4:12.
There is an error on the aisle runner. That verse is Mark 10-8.
But it’s also in Eph. 5:31.
How can I get the runner?
Ideas on how to get that pretty calligraphy for the 1 Corinthians pieces down the isle??
Nice post… on my wedding (and most of russian Christians ) we had our pastor say something to guests, family (especially parents ) and to us , or groom and bride… then he ask us questions like “do you love each other”, are you agree to be hes/hers wife/husband. .. and then pray : first parents (mom, dad), bride, groom and pastor. ..after that he pronounced wife and husband and they can kiss …and the other stuff… congratulations from church with gift, like a Bible, flowers and maybe money… and then the fun part: food and games with music… no dance…:)
